Our Mission

The mission of The Turning Point is to provide counseling, education, and advocacy for those impacted by sexual assault.

Our Services

The Turning Point is the only organization in Collin County providing comprehensive services to sexual assault survivors. These services include

• 24-hour crisis hotline: 1-800-886-7273,
• hospital accompaniment for sexual assault victims,
• crisis and justice advocacy,
• individual and group counseling for adult and adolescent survivors.

We also provide information and support to friends and family of survivors. Through these crisis, counseling and advocacy services, we hope to provide comfort and healing to those impacted by sexual assault.

At The Turning Point, we are committed to increasing awareness of issues surrounding sexual assault while helping to reduce the frequency of sexual assault in our community. Hence, our staff and volunteers offer a variety of educational and training options to schools, civic organizations, law enforcement and medical personnel, businesses and community groups.

Volunteers are essential to carrying out our mission. We use volunteers throughout our organization: as hotline and hospital crisis advocates, for administrative and fundraising needs, for education and outreach efforts. Our History

The Turning Point began in 1982 as the Rape Crisis Center of Collin County. A local social worker felt that victims of sexual assault needed professional help with healing and recovery in addition to help in filing the initial crime report. She joined with staff of the North Texas Medical Center and the McKinney Police Department to create an organization dedicated to support and healing for sexual assault victims. Now, The Turning Point serves all of Collin County and surrounding areas by providing a diverse array of counseling, education and advocacy services.

Our Agency

The Turning Point is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization which provides services free of charge to those impacted by sexual assault. We are a member agency of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.

Our agency is funded through government and foundation grants, individual and corporate contributions, and fundraising activities.
